Hypothyroidism reduces the number and activity of mitochondria, the energy-producing cells, notes Mark Starr, MD, author of the wonderful book Hypothyroidism Type 2: The Epidemic. Mitochondria make up one-third of the weight of the heart muscle, Dr. Starr notes in this short audio clip from a speech he gave in 2007 at an Orthomolecular Conference. This appears to the connection as to how hypothyroidism can cause some forms of congestive heart failure where the heart muscle is too weak to pump enough blood to the rest of the body (cardiomyopathy). It's an energy problem. Dr. Starr's book contains the wonderful "Before" and "After" pictures showing X-rays of enlarge hearts that shrink back to normal size after the patient is given natural desiccated thyroid. A decrease in mitochondria also appears to be the connection of hypothyroidism to Alzheimer's, which Dr. Starr noted in another audio clip. Again, it's an energy problem. Why Not Try Desiccated Thyroid First? Why not try natural desiccated thyroid first for all of these conditions? Why not give natural desiccated thyroid a try for all of these conditions? Living With Congestive Heart Failure
 | (NEWSCHANNEL 3) Congestive heart failure doesn't have to be a death sentence. Recently Newschannel 3 visited Borgess Medical Center's Heart Failure Clinic where patients learn to live by managing their illness. Irma Pruve comes to the clinic twice a month. She may not have recognized the symptoms, but during a routine check-up, doctors discovered the beginnings of congestive heart failure, her heart wasn't pumping blood properly. A lot of people when they get the diagnosis of heart failure, it's just a death sentence, but it doesn't have to be, said Amy Shaffer, clinical coordinator. It can be like any other chronic illness where you can learn to live with it. That is what Pruve has done with the help of Borgess Medical Center's congestive heart failure program. I had to decrease my fluid intake, and also my salt intake, said Pruve. Pruve was also put on medication. She monitors herself at home, but is also checked regularly by specialists at Borgess. We're really teaching them how to manage their own disease process and let their doctor know in time if they start to get into trouble, said Gail Venner, nurse practitioner. They had me weighing myself everyday, said Pruve, I had to check for swelling to see if I was retaining fluids. Managing the disease for Pruve means no salt, no soda, and frequent cardiograph tests. Liz Taylor died Wednesday 23rd March 2011 in hospital from congestive heart failure.
She was the last of the great movie goddesses, thrilling and intriguing the pre-rockstar, pre-TV soap world of the 1950s and 60s with a love life and lifestyle that any Hollywood story-editor would have rejected as impossibly far-fetched.
Taylor’s drive to succeed was the equal of her mother’s. At 10, she set her heart on the lead role in National Velvet, a romance with a horseracing background, but was told she was too short for the role.
After several weeks of punishing exercise and weight-gaining diet, she went back to the director and managed to persuade him she’d gained three inches in height.
Child stars then seldom made a comfortable transition to adult roles - witness Shirley Temple - but Taylor managed it effortlessly. With her virginal beauty went a voluptuous figure that initially worried the self-censoring movie bosses. Officials known as B.I.s (bust-inspectors) patrolled her sets, ordering higher-cut dresses if too much cleavage was visible.
At 18, she married Nicky Hilton, a good-looking and deceptively charming young man whose father, Conrad, founded the Hilton hotel-chain.
The smiling charmer proved to be an abusive drunk who battered his young bride so brutally, she lost the baby she was carrying.
Divorcing Hilton, she rebounded into the arms of British actor Michael Wilding, a man 20 years her senior. The five-year marriage with Wilding produced two sons, Michael and Christopher, but, as Taylor herself admitted, was more brother-sister relationship than love match.
In 1957, she dumped Wilding for the American producer Mike Todd, a stocky, swashbuckling figure then preparing to launch his epic screen version of Jules Verne’s Around The World In 80 Days. Todd was Taylor’s ideal man - powerful, protective, and irresistibly masculine.

Step 2: Boil Bring the water to a boil, and skim the bubbles and residue from the surface with a wooden spoon. Step 3: Turn down heat Cover and turn down the heat, letting the water simmer.
